New Patients

Initial Consultations take approximately 1 3/4 hours.  This comprehensive appointment allows you and the doctor to go over your complete medical history, your living environment and environmental factors that may be making your symptoms worse.   Please bring any recent test results; blood work, x-rays, as well as a complete list of all medications, including dose and frequency, you are currently taking.  Together you and the doctor will discuss dietary changes, environmental changes and possibly, a course of medication.
At this appointment, the Dr. DeFusco may wish to begin skin testing.
Skin testing is used to identify the substances that are causing your allergy symptoms.  The doctor prefers this method for most of his patients.  Skin testing requires the allergen be injected under the skin, in the upper arm area.
For pediatric patients usually no more than 10 of these injections are given in one office visit.  For adult patients up to 15 injections may be given.   It may take 1-2 subsequent office visits to complete the skin testing.
It is important to stop taking antihistamines, click here for a list, or antihistamine/decongestant combinations,
click here for a list, 48 hours prior to this appointment, as they may mask any reaction to the testing.
If what you are currently taking is not on the list, please call the office to see if you should stop taking it.
If you are currently taking a Beta-Blocker DO NOT stop taking it but please notify the office staff.
Please download the appropriate new patient packet below.  If you child is 13 or over pleas download the "Adult" packet.  We ask that you print, complete it, and bring it with you to your consultation appointment.
